Alfa Romeo Car Case
This custom bespoke luggage case was designed specifically for a one-off production run of The Alfa Romeo Type 33. The brief was to create a case that would fit perfectly into the bonnet of the car, housed within a specially made luggage compartment. Crafted from oak bark–tanned leather to reflect timeless elegance, the design was inspired by early 1900s hat box cases.
Measuring 50cm in diameter and 22cm in height, the case is fully lined, traditionally box-stitched, and finished with chrome hardware. I worked closely with the client to source fittings that matched the car’s distinctive chrome detailing.
With 32 more of these vehicles currently in production, I’ve been honoured with the opportunity to produce matching cases for the remaining models.
Heritage Craft Leatherworker of the Year Award 2025
I was honoured and humbled to be commissioned by Heritage Crafts to design and create the 2025 Leatherworker of the Year award, with complete creative freedom to craft a piece of my own choosing. I aimed to showcase as many traditional leatherworking techniques as possible, celebrating the heritage of the craft. The award features saddle stitching, box stitching, and butt stitching, along with strap work, belt work, and tub making.
I had the privilege of collaborating with one of Britain’s last traditional leather tool makers, George Barnsley & Sons, who crafted a half-round saddler’s knife that I incorporated into the top of the piece. The knife was carefully stitched into place on the tub’s rounded leather surface. The leather used is oak bark tanned, paying tribute to Britain’s last remaining traditional oak bark tannery.
Bowie Knife Sheath
A collection of Bowie knife sheaths created for a customer’s large and small Bowie hunting knife set. The brief was to design two custom sheaths that look distinct yet share enough similarities to complement each other when displayed side by side. I incorporated inlays using oak bark–tanned leather alongside contrasting leathers to create these unique pieces. Additionally, I included old saddle leather to give the design an instant aged patina. The edges have been carefully burnished to a smooth, glossy finish, showcasing the natural leather fibers in detail.
Axe Sheaths
Commissioned to create simple yet elegant and practical sheath covers for a collection of vintage axes, each carefully restored with new ash handles. Using oak bark–tanned leather, known for its durability and rich natural finish, I handcrafted each sheath to precisely fit the unique shape and size of each axe head. The result is a collection of bespoke sheaths that not only protect the blades but also complement the craftsmanship of the restored tools, combining function with timeless style.
