Large Forager’s Trug
A classic large leather trug designed for big adventures and daily life alike — perfect for gardeners gathering cut flowers, foragers roaming the woods, farmers’ market shoppers filling up with seasonal produce, or makers carrying tools and craft supplies.
Introducing the Large Forager’s Trug, my spacious and sturdy take on the traditional gardener’s trug — thoughtfully handcrafted to hold generous harvests, bunches of herbs, armfuls of vegetables or fresh sourdough, thermos and picnic blanket for an afternoon on the moors.
With its robust build and timeless style, this handmade leather garden basket is as practical in the flower garden as it is at the farmers’ market or allotment — and equally suited for carrying woodworking tools, chisels, or craft essentials from workshop to shed.
Not too light and not too heavy, the perfect balance to swing on your arm.

More Information
From the moment you use your trug, you and it start to age together. Every day your trug will develop its own unique patina, and every time it gets scratched or nicked, it'll get better and better. Because no two hides are ever the same, each trug will be different from the next and colour changes vary from hide to hide.
Approx. Dimensions:

Traditional Craftsmanship for Modern Foragers & Makers
Each Large Forager’s Trug is lovingly handmade in my Devon workshop using the finest oak bark tanned shoulder leather — a durable, naturally tanned leather prized for its strength, suppleness, and ability to develop a rich, beautiful patina over time. Oak bark tanning is a traditional vegetable tanning method that uses natural tree bark extracts, ensuring an eco-friendly, chemical-free process that respects the hide’s natural character and longevity.
The 1-inch wide leather handles are crafted from the same premium leather, attached securely with copper saddler’s rivets renowned for their strength and corrosion resistance. Every stitch is hand-sewn using waxed linen thread with classic saddle stitching techniques — a method inherited from traditional saddlery that ensures exceptional durability and wear resistance.
Edges are hand-burnished to seal and smooth the leather fibres, protecting against fraying and moisture ingress, while the natural oils in the leather mean your trug will age gracefully, gaining character with every use. You can also personalise your trug by choosing a contrasting leather strap, adding a bespoke touch to your essential gardening, foraging, or crafting companion.
Perfect for Gardeners, Foragers, Farmers Markets & Crafting
Whether you’re gathering armfuls of flowers from your cutting patch, stocking up at your local farmers’ market, foraging wild garlic in spring or packing your favourite sourdough and flask for a picnic on the moors, this large leather trug is built for it all. It’s equally suited for crafters and makers carrying woodworking tools, joinery chisels, or artisan supplies, combining rugged strength with timeless style.
